DRA seeks input on Ross stores.

Disability Rights Advocates (DRA) is investigating complaints from people with disabilities regarding a practice at Ross Stores of refusing to provide assistance to customers with disabilities.

If you are a person with a disability who has shopped at a Ross Store, they would appreciate hearing about your experiences in seeking customer service.

Apple’s out-of-the-box, assistive technology solutions make the iPad and other Apple products a truly viable option for blind and visually impaired users. Whether you are low vision or blind, you can now make calls, text, send emails and use other Apple applications without purchasing additional software.

Resource Center and Institute for Blind College-Bound Musicians

The National Resource Center for Blind Musicians is best known for its Summer Institute for Blind College-Bound Musicians, a residential program that brings together students from several states who are studying music at the college level.

General services include information and referral for visually impaired students of all ages, their parents and teachers; learning opportunities for blind students headed to college; and maintenance of a network of visually impaired musicians willing to share their expertise in Braille music, technology and coping strategies. Read the San Francisco Examiner article on Ayaka Isono.  Ayaka is a concert pianist,  music teacher, adaptive technology and Braille instructor. She has been part of the Light House community as a client,  volunteer and staff member.
